The end of NAV2013 and NAV2013R2 lives

Yesterday, Cumulative Update 56 for Dynamics NAV 2013 and Cumulative Update 49 for Dynamics NAV 2013R2 have been released. But these will be the last cumulative updates for this two Dynamics NAV versions with just a few platform and application hotfixes.

Why the last time? Well, from January 9th 2018, Microsoft will finish with the mainstream support for these NAV versions. Customers with active service plan can continue to use already released hotfixes and help via Customer Service. But I think that the best idea for all these customers is to upgrade their solution. And not only for owners of these versions; I think that the best solution for all clients is to stay current with new versions all the time.

And just to be precisely, Extended Support will continue with existing until:

  • January 10th 2023 for Dynamics NAV 2013
  • January 9th 2023 for Dynamics NAV 2013R2

NAV Cumulative Updates – February 2017

Last month I wrote about some issues when you tried to download NAV Cumulative Updates. Now it looks like as we can download all CU’s using Microsoft Download Center. Today, I’ve investigated and found the newest  February CU’s for all NAV versions. I check on Dynamics NAV blog, but I didn’t find them. I hope, we will get them on blog very soon, but in the meantime, you can download them from the following URL’s. As I fond them on MS Download Center, that means these are public:

And even more. I’ve found URL’s where you can find all old Cumulative Updates for all NAV versions. And of course, all these links are correct and everything I tried looks fine. There are these URL’s:

Good luck…

New Dynamics NAV Cumulative Updates

Today, Microsoft published on his blog that Cumulative Updates for all actual Dynamics NAV versions have been released. But when you try to go to these sites and download them, you will not be so lucky. You will ge a message that this site is currently unavailable.

unavailable

If you look at the blog articles for NAV 2017 and NAV 2016, you will find information: The downloads are temporarily unavailable, we are sorry for the inconvenience. But you cannot find these information for older versions, but these URL’s still don’t work.

I found information on PartnerSource that the new system should be ready to go by Feb 2017. This info is published 3 days ago. I don’t know what to say. That means we cannot download any CU for any NAV version almost one month. I hope, this is only small misunderstanding and we will get some other ways to download everything we need.

If URLs start to work, you can download CU’s on the following links:

And if you want to try NAV 2017 CU2, I can suggest only one place: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/freddyk/2017/01/11/nav-2017-cu2-on-azure/

Temporary solution for all CU’s by Microsoft:  if you can’t find a specific KB article via Microsoft Support Website contact itmbssup@microsoft.com.

You will find a pretty big lists of Platform and Application hotfixes, as well as for example Czech application hotfixes. For other localization, there only few hotfixes.

In the same time, we got Cumulative Updates for other versions:

For NAV 2016 and NAV 2015, there are still dozens of platform and application hotfixes. But if you look at NAV 2013R2, you will find only one platform and one application hotfixes, as well as a few of locals. But for NAV 2013 there is no hotfixes (only one local for Spain).

NAV November ’16 Cumulative Updates

As we know, on the beginning of the month we get a new cumulative updates for Dynamics NAV. This month everything is the same as we already used to. We got Cumulative Updates for the following NAV releases:

As you can notice, we didn’t get Cumulative Update for NAV 2017. Maybe we will get it later, but I’m sure we will get the first one the next month.

On my first sight I didn’t see some features from NAV 2017 migrated to the older versions. Generally, there are standard platform and application hotfixes. Update your solution with the newest CU, but if you can – update your solution to the NAV 2017.

New Cumulative Updates for NAV

I didn’t want to write this article before new Cumulative Update for NAV 2016 is released. And today, few days after other versions (all other have been released three days ago), we’ve got Cumulative Update 12 for NAV 2016.

Now, you can download all these Cumulative Updates from the following links:

There are really a lot of interesting Platform and Application hotfixes and local hotfixes as well and you just need to download and test them. But this time, I’m sure you still want to see what is new in NAV 2017 and see you on Directions EMEA.

NAV September Cumulative Updates

July 2016 NAV Cumulative Updates

Yesterday (July 5th) new NAV Cumulative Updates have been released. As usually in expectation of new NAV version, Microsoft published updates for the last four NAV versions:

You can download them for the previous links. If you are thinking if this is the right moment for your upgrade to the last version and the last Cumulative Update, the answer is YES. Very soon we will get the newest very impressive NAV version and this will be the first step in preparation for using the newest NAV version.

As usually, NAV 2016 has the most of hotfixes, both platform and application, NAV 2015 slightly less and for the other two versions, just few of them. You can also find some local application hotfixes.

June 2016 CUs for NAV have been released

Today, Microsoft has published new Cumulative Updates:

Generally, NAV 2016 has pretty more Platform Hotfixes than other three versions (they have only few of them). About Application Hotfixes, the last two version have most of all improvement.

Almost all Hotfixes, both Platform and Application are just improving some issues in system. If we wait something new, I think we will wait until new version will be published. In any case, I suggest to install the most recent cumulative update for your NAV version. And still better, upgrade your NAV to the freshest NAV version :). You will not make mistake.
