New Dynamics NAV Cumulative Updates

Today, Microsoft published on his blog that Cumulative Updates for all actual Dynamics NAV versions have been released. But when you try to go to these sites and download them, you will not be so lucky. You will ge a message that this site is currently unavailable.

unavailable

If you look at the blog articles for NAV 2017 and NAV 2016, you will find information: The downloads are temporarily unavailable, we are sorry for the inconvenience. But you cannot find these information for older versions, but these URL’s still don’t work.

I found information on PartnerSource that the new system should be ready to go by Feb 2017. This info is published 3 days ago. I don’t know what to say. That means we cannot download any CU for any NAV version almost one month. I hope, this is only small misunderstanding and we will get some other ways to download everything we need.

If URLs start to work, you can download CU’s on the following links:

And if you want to try NAV 2017 CU2, I can suggest only one place: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/freddyk/2017/01/11/nav-2017-cu2-on-azure/

Temporary solution for all CU’s by Microsoft:  if you can’t find a specific KB article via Microsoft Support Website contact itmbssup@microsoft.com.

NAV 2017 is available for download

From today, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 is available for download. You can find download link on PartnerSource. But currently it has some issues when you try to download (I hope it will be solved soon).

*This issue is solved yesterday. If you still have a problem because you cannot download, press F12, choose Emulation and change Document mode to 9. System will continue with downloading.

On this link you can find W1 version and all official localizations and language modules. Partner Translation Toolkit will be available soon, but you can find system requirements, installation information and release notes. We can find all information about process of ordering NAV 2017 license for new and existing customers as well.

NAV 2017 will be available Oct.28

All of use expected general availability of NAV 2017 yesterday, but we need to wait just few days more. As we can find on Partner Source, Microsoft announced general availability of NAV 2017 for October 28. On this day, we will get:

  • Product for downloading
  • Partner Translation Toolkit
  • Language Modules

At the same time, we can already find what is new in NAV 2017 and new license guide for NAV 2017. Use these few days to learn all news about NAV 2017 and after that we can start with new product.

NAV 2017 Limited Beta W1

In my previous post, I said that you can download NAV 2017 limited beta version. But there was a problem. If you tried to download you could see that W1 (and NL as well) were missing.

But now, Microsoft fixed it and you can download all version (W1 and NL as well). You can find 20 different localization versions (W1 + 19 other countries). Once again, just follow this link to sign Agreement and you can download it after that.

Good luck with new NAV. From tomorrow, I’ll start with series of articles about new features. I hope you will like it, but still the best place to find everything new in NAV 2017 is Directions NA and EMEA. See you there.

What is New in NAV 2017?

I notice, Microsoft yesterday has published a “What’s New in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Limited Beta” document on a PartnerSource. And they also provide a link to download this limited beta version here. In the same time, during the Directions conference call we were introduced with Directions sessions and where NAV will be in the future (you can find more details about it on Waldo blog). Because of that, I strongly suggest to download both of them to see what is new and how it works.

Of course, when I looked in the document, I’m seeing there are still some new thinks still didn’t published (I think this is still by NDA or…). But briefly, these are the most important news.

  • Improving incoming documents with OCR support for document lines, filtering…
  • Item Categorizing and Item Attributes (I’ve already wrote about this).
  • Finally we can cancel sales and purchase invoice and credit memos.
  • We have Account Categories and some other functional improvements (Reconciliation, Jobs, Fixed Assets, some US financial reports…).
  • Simplified setup of CRM and better features in CRM integration.
  • Better Office 365 integration and especially introduce in NAV on Outlook mail and calendar.
  • Smart notifications and finally really good extensions capabilities (you will like both of them). You can find a lot about new extensions on Mark Brummel blog. And something really new – Application area tags (I’ll write more about it soon).

OK this is just briefly, and I will write more about these features soon as something more.

As usually, these cumulative updates replace previously released cumulative updates.

Limited Users in NAV 2016

I suppose the most of you have already used Limited Users. It is pretty good possibility to save some money for users who have not a lot different processes to work in NAV. But limitation was a big; you could insert in only 3 tables by your need and in 80 additional by default. It was enough for some basics processes (creating contacts, HR, warehouse and similar).

But from NAV 2016, we have a pretty greater possibilities. That means we can use for inserting even 151 default tables; you can find completely list here. Some of the most important default tables for insert are:

  • Customers and Vendors
  • Customer and Vendor Invoice Discounts
  • Sales and Purchase Headers and Lines
  • Deferrals
  • Sales/Puchase Price and Line Discount
  • Assembly Order Headers and Lines
  • Incoming Documents
  • Workflow tables

You can see that with these tables in combination with three additional by your needs, we can use Limited Users for a lot different processes. It can decrease project cost and improve quality.

NAV 2016 Phone Client

Few months ago, Microsoft has announced new Phone Client for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016. With today’s NAV 2016 general availability, we can check it. First, NAV has new icon; sails no longer exist. This is new set of icons:

NAVIcons

And now again, Phone Client. You can download new NAV 2016 App for iPhone from Apple iTunes. Also it is possible to download from Google Play and Windows Store. You just need to type “Dynamics NAV” in search and you can easy find them. Download them and type your service, username and password. Finally, you can use NAV on all devices and all systems. It looks line:

NAVMobile

If you’ve just installed NAV 2016 from Partner Source, you can check how it looks like using Web browser. You just need to add phone.aspx behind .. /WebClient/ (smilar as for Tablet Client emulation) and change the size of browser to emulate phone size; and you don’t need a HTTPS certificates. You will see that Phone Client looks awesome and everything works fine and smoothly. And you can use camera from your phone directly in NAV, for example for document capturing. But for this feature, you have to use this app from phone, because camera cannot be emulated from your browser.

More news, soon.

This is my first reporting from Directions EMEA this year. I’ve arrived in Mannheim two days earlier because of my other obligations and I registered yesterday after rain stopped, but this is actually first day of Directions EMEA 2015. Keynote is finished and from this moment, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 is generally available.

WP_20151005_004

Group of Microsoft Dynamics Program Managers with Marko Perisic as leader, made an awesome job on scene. They presented the most important news in new NAV release very effective. Of course, guys from Continia also made amazing show in second part of Keynote with their new solution. Now, other sessions are starting and we can see lot of news and interesting things.

On Keynote scene we could see NAV Mobile App, a lot of new Web Client features, e-service exchange in practice, natively CRM Online integration, natively NAV reporting in Power BI,… I don’t want to write about all news now. I will write about them, one by one in few following posts.

Now, I only want to say that you can download new NAV now from this Partner Source link and let’s driving start. Now nothing else about NAV 2016 is not by NDA.
