NAV and Windows 10 again

Month ago, I’ve wrote about using of Microsoft Dynamics NAV on Windows 10. I tested NAV ‘Corfu’ CTPs on Windows 10 prerelease versions. By my opinion future release NAV 2016 will works excellent on Windows 10. Today, Microsoft officially publish the same information, NAV 2016 is compatible with Windows 10. In the same article, we can see that older NAV versions have some problems on Windows 10, but by my opinion not big. You can find more about it in my older post, but Microsoft says it will be corrected in cumulative updates in October, but only for NAV 2015, NAV 2013 R2 and NAV 2013.

CRM Online and NAV2016

If you still remember, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 (ex ‘Corfu’) will works natively with Dynamics CRM Online. Enabling this integration will be very simple to install and setup and it will works with a default setup. I will not write about this integration jet, because it is still by NDA.

I want to say that this is a great feature because CRM Online is extraordinarily listed on the market. It can make a great opportunity in repeatability NAV implementation model.

I have just found a Gartner research about Sales Force Automation. Gartner marks MS Dynamics CRM Online and MS Dynamics CRM as Leaders. Besides them, you can find only Salesforce in this Leader Quadrant.

GartnerMagicQuadrantCRM

This is really good position for MS CRM and CRM Online. With them, this is good opportunity for NAV 2016, as well. You can find here more about it research.

My NAV Lectures This Fall

To the end of this year, there will be a few very interesting NAV Conferences. I will go on most of them, but on few of them I will be a lecturer. Now, I can present schedules of my lectures this fall.

DirectionsEMEA

First, I’m starting at Directions EMEA, Mannheim, GermanyOctober 5-7, 2015

I was on almost all Directions EMEA Conferences, but it will be my first time as lecturer. I still remember Paris 2008, but now it is really huge conference (it will be conference with 1.300+ attendees). Topic will be how you can implement NAV in construction business. I think I have a lot of experiences in this topic and I think it will be very interesting. I still don’t know exact term, but I’ll publish it in a timely manner. I will be there few days earlier. See you there.

Sinergija

In second half of October, I will start with MS Sinergija, Belgrade, SerbiaOctober 21-23, 2015

MS Sinergija is my favorite Serbian IT Conference. It will be my tenth lecture on this conference. Conference will be at inconvenient times this year because my trip to US, but it will be a jubilee lecture and I cannot miss it. I’m still not sure about topic, but it will be for sure about something new in NAV 2016. I hope it will be interesting for people in my country.

DirectionsNA

Only one day after Sinergija I will fly to US on Directions NA, Orlando, USAOctober 25-28, 2015

This will be my first time on Directions NA and I hope not the last J. I expect to meet a lot of good people there. On this Conference, I will have the same session as on Directions EMEA – How to implement NAV in construction business. This lecture is part of MVP Best Practices Track and it is already scheduled as session BP 450 on 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM, Tuesday, October 27. This year, I will stay in USA two weeks. After this conference, I will be few days in San Francisco and in Seattle on MVP Summit after that, as well.

NAVTechDays

And on the end, as my the last conference this year, I’ve planned NAV TechDays, Antwerp, BelgiumNovember 19-20, 2015

Last year, I was on this conference for the first time and I just fell in love. I will have one session this year: Deploying and Managing Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 with Azure SQL Database. It will be completely technical session and I hope you will recognize it as interesting topic. It is an honor to be with these great people on this conference. This session is already scheduled at 11:00 – 12:30, Friday, November 20.

I hope I’ll see and meet a lot of good people on all these conferences. In meantime, I will also be on MVP Summit in Redmond, US – November 2-5, 2015. See you there.

Unfortunately, I will not be on NAVUG Summit, Microsoft Business Summit Asia and on Convergence EMEA because of my tight schedule on the end of year. But I hope, maybe next year.

Sales Quote in NAV from Outlook “after NAV 2016”

Few days ago during the WPC in Orlando, Microsoft has showed one of great news after NAV 2016. You can use NAV directly from Outlook in Office 365 with new NAV Mail Add-in. With this add-in, you will have your NAV pages and data in your mail.

Using this feature you can save your time because you will not have to change pages between your NAV and Office 365 and finding related data; you can finish all your sales process only in Outlook but using NAV data in background. Outlook can easy recognize your Outlook contacts and quickly prepare sales quote or invoice for example. We will still wait more about this great new feature, but now it look like awesome. Cannot wait Next+1 🙂 …

People still trust and like NAV globally. The last version was really excellent and we can expect more and more in following version.

Video Series on Partner Source Site

In the last few years, you could find a lot of different “How Do I” videos on MSDN or Youtube. But, you always had a problem when you want to find some specific video. Now, Microsoft have arranged a part of Partner Source for these videos and not only for videos. If you are a Microsoft Dynamics NAV partner, you will easy find video you need.

Microsoft organizes six different contents “buckets” from the Readiness & Training News page for Microsoft Dynamics NAV. There are:

Now, you can find all currently published videos, allocated in logical parts. In the near future, there will be a lot new videos to make cohesion between them and all of us hope that it will help to all partners.

Happy New Year and small retrospect

In three days, it will be the end of this year. I have just finished new “How Do I” video and I have plan to finish one more tomorrow. I hope these two my last videos in 2014. years would be interesting.

I want to remind you that you can find all “How Do I” video about NAV 2015 on MSDN here. Very soon, we will have a special well organized places on Partner Source.

Now, few more words about this year. Personally, it’s been a really great year! Thanks for being a part of it. In this year, I become an MVP and I got Customer Excellence Award on Convergence Europe. I had a lot of very interesting projects and lectures, as well. Also, on my personal plan, I has some very good news (but, this is intimately).

I want to say thanks to all people that supported me (and people that do not supported me :-)). I want to all of you to have a year that is better than I already had this year. I also hope, we will get an awesome new version of NAV (‘Corfu’) next year.

And, of course, special thanks to my friends all around the world and especially to my family (my wife, son and dog).

What behind NAV 2015?

In this moment, this question maybe is not so actual. Why? First Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 still not formal released. It will be in October 1st. But, I think good to know, what we can expect in next year. Yes, as we already know, Microsoft will release new version every 12 months. And we have to get used to it.

OK, next NAV release will be known as code name ‘Corfu’. Corfu is another beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea… but, it is also future NAV release.

What will be new in this release? Currently, we do not know so much. We can expect following.

  • Workflow
  • Document Management and OCR
  • E-services integration
  • Streamlined UX across all clients
